Aerosmith's Greatest Hits, a 1980 compilation album, is now among the most well-known and durable best-of sets by any rock band. It has sold around ten million copies in the United States alone since its inception, and a 2001 digital remastering expanded it to 17 tracks. But the band had pretty well hit rock bottom when it was first released. With original guitarist Joe Perry no longer with the band (and Brad Whitford joining him shortly after), Aerosmith had become a hapless, time-consuming shadow of its former self. Aerosmith's Greatest Hits was essentially put together to bridge the three-year gap between the band's 1982 release Rock in a Hard Place and 1979's Night in the Ruts, giving them some much-needed time to relax. The forgettable choice is the only dubious one.

"Remember (Walking in the Sand)," but nine of the songs are bona fide classics -- "Dream On," "Same Old Song and Dance," "Sweet Emotion," "Walk This Way," "Last Child," "Back in the Saddle," and "Draw the Line." Also featured is their venomous cover of the Beatles' "Come Together," previously only available as a single and on the soundtrack to the 1978 movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Alain Reiher 20 Miniatures PDF: This collection of short pieces by guitarist and composer Alain Reiher, a native of Haiti, is organized in a largely progressive manner. The pieces start off quite simple and get progressively more intricate as you go through the volume—but only to an early intermediate level of technical difficulty. Although the individual pieces are theoretically simple, this is not to be interpreted as simplistic, as befits the idea of "miniatures". There's a lot of musical material in here. In retrospect, the harmonic language always sounds reasonable, even though it can occasionally be unexpected while maintaining attention and a sense of novelty.
